The President and First arrived at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Honolulu, Hawaii last Friday. The Obama family will spend their annual holiday vacation in Hawaii, returning to Washington on January 5.
Landing in Honolulu, Mrs. O wore a vibrant printed sundress paired with a cropped black cardigan. Gold hoops completed the warm weather look.

During Mrs. Obama's first term as First Lady, I came to this site only for the fashion & to get a little inspiration. During her 2nd term as First Lady, I also started reading the comments with an occasional comment posted by myself. I have to agree with Bayo Omole - the comments are entertaining!
I just have to make a few random comments regarding the First Lady & her Hawaiian vacation. (Hanging out with Oprah Winfrey at her estate right now - yes, life is "tough!") I LOVE Mrs. Obama's fashion choices probably 90% of the time! Although the First Lady is in great shape, I agree that the shorts at the basketball game were a poor choice. She surely had to know that the media would be snapping pictures of her & her family at the basketball game since much ado & attention were given to the fact that they were at that game to watch the First Lady's brother, Coach Craig Robinson, coach his Oregon State University basketball team - the Beavers. Maybe the First Lady looked morose because her brother's team lost to the University of Akron! But, It was hardly a situation that she wouldn't know something about the team!
As far as possibly being tired from the long flight, traveling on Air Force One is not like traveling on a regular flight! The First Family has all the comforts of home - Air Force One is bigger & more luxurious than most American homes!
I think the First Lady's fashion choices are stunning most of the time! This has been a fun web site, & I look forward to more posts! Thank you!
@Bayo Omole There is a photo of Mrs. O on vacation wearing a polka dot top. There should also be posts about her People Magazine dress and the Prabal Gurung dress she wore for Barbara Walters interview.
I like Obama's style
Wow, this has become a tiresome blog --and I'm especially sorry that it is updated so infrequently. Maybe the indefatigable Mrs T has also tired of the silly fan club rants. The discussion should be an honest critique of Mrs. Obama's clothes choices, good and bad. It goes without saying that a superior human being like Michelle Obama will sometimes choose an outfit that doesn't flatter. Why not be able to critique that in a live and learn spirit. First Lady Fundamentialists, please take your ideology elsewhere.
Will there be a best of 2013 collage like last year? I love this site! Thank you for all of the work it takes.

Michelle Obama began an official campaign against childhood obesity by discussing a warning from the First Family's doctor that her own daughters were becoming overweight.
"In my eyes I thought my children were perfect," Mrs Obama said at an event organised by US health officials to tackle the epidemic of childhood obesity.
"I didn't see the changes."
Mrs Obama appeared at the campaign launch outside Washington with Regina Benjamin, the US Surgeon General who also invoked her own struggles with weight gain to enforce their message.....
Mrs Obama, whose star power is being used to try to fight a problem in a country where two thirds of adults and one in three children are overweight or obese, said that the family paediatrician "cautioned me that I had to look at my children's BMI", or body mass index. "He was concerned that something was getting off balance."
It is not the first time that the President and his wife have talked publicly about their children's weight.
In November 2008, Barack Obama described how the habits of their children had to change because Malia (11) had become "a little chubby". Mrs Obama said that modest alterations to the lifestyle of Malia and her sister, Sasha (8), had produced results.

Perfect comment Dr Cheryl. What's inexplicable and tiresome in my opinion is the dogged anger towards positive comments and posters who are derided as silly fans for respecting Mrs Obama, her individuality and personal choices. (Personal choices that have nothing to do with any of us and should not, as a matter of fact, be up for discussion.) What's over the top isn't the defense of Mrs Obama, but the rabid insistence that any of us has the right to degrade or trivialize this woman (or any woman) and her personal choices. Personal choices that in no way impinge upon any of our lives, rights or decisions. This might not be a fan page per se, but I'd like to think that Mrs T set out to create a fashion blog that paid tribute to a woman she admires, by tracking her sartorial choices. (Mrs T's posts are always positive, never snide or critical.) Prior to 2008, a blog such as this might have attracted just fans and supporters. But we live now in the twilight zone, where when all else fails, fashion blogs serve as an insidious medium to slate, deliver withering insults, and summarily pass judgement on a politician's wife and all aspects of her life. Air Force One has a single bed in the presidential quarters. It might be a customized plane, but it's not a luxury home. It's still an aircraft with restrictions and very limited comforts. How awfully facile to utilize gossip intended to harm, (including unverified tidbits from questionable sources) about Mrs Obama being hosted by a friend who happens to be a celebrity, as proof that Mrs Obama has it made, and shouldn't have a single worry, complaint or care in the world. I watched the Golden Globes last night. These are the people who've enthusiastically signed up for, and beg us to follow and dissect their style. Maybe those chomping at the bit to discuss and critique (in their supposed live and learn spirit), can do so with those who are willing and live for it? A highly visible woman sends an unmistakable message when she keeps recycling her clothes over a short period of time.
No disrespect was intended for the First Lady! My comments were directed at some of the thoughts & opinions of previous posters. In no way did I state or imply that the First Lady doesn't have concerns or worries - everybody does! I do not discount the burden or responsibility of the role of the First Lady. However, Mrs. Obama herself has said that being First Lady is an honor & a privilege. First Ladies in recent history have said the same - going on to say that serving as First Lady provided opportunities & experiences which they couldn't possibly have had if their husbands had not been the President. In several of the First Ladies' (auto)biographies, they tell of meeting people they otherwise would not have met - and what a privilege that was! I jokingly said that "life is tough" after several news sources, including "questionable sources" such as ABC News & the Boston Herald, reported that the First Lady was vacationing at Oprah Winfrey's Hawaiian home. But, that was not meant as an insult at all! My comment was meant for those who have implied that the First Lady's life is hard because of lack of privacy, enduring comments about the President, etc. And, certainly that must be true! But, my point was that life as the First Lady ALSO comes with wonderful perks & countless fun opportunities - like hanging out with Oprah! But, I apologize to those who misinterpreted my comments. I have utmost respect for Mrs. Obama - she is a great First Lady & I love her fashion sense. Okay - one more thing - I am so sorry for even mentioning Air Force One. But, when a poster mentioned that perhaps the First Lady was suffering from jet lag - I couldn't help but think that jet lag would be much more likely if a person had flown via coach, but certainly not as likely when flying on the spacious & comfortable & necessary Air Force One.
Most of all, I truly wish I had never got involved in this whole conversation from the beginning! I agree with several posters that this is a Fashion blog ... and I surely got off track just because of my need to respond to some of the comments. Apologies!

Something about Michelle Obama’s eyes suggests the presence of a soul that’s not only at peace but profoundly amused to find itself living in the body–and the world–that it’s lucky enough to inhabit. Smiling at us from the front pages or the TV screen or from the stylized, glamorous ether of a magazine cover, our new First Lady’s eyes are not only conventionally beautiful but remarkably expressive. We may find ourselves remembering what children instinctively know: Ignore what the grown-ups are saying and check out their eyes if you want to find out if they’re telling the truth. For as long as I can remember, the eyes of our First Ladies have seemed clouded with the effort to conceal the woman behind them, a woman imprisoned inside a flawed marriage or an uncongenial role and desperately tapping out a coded distress call of betrayal or frustration. But there’s nothing fake or studied in the responsive warmth with which Michelle Obama regards her husband and daughters, her mother, the White House staff, the South Carolina schoolgirl who sat beside her during the president’s speech to Congress. If transparency is the new watchword of the Obama administration, it is reflected in her eyes.

Dear Mrs. T. I just want to thank you for all the pleasure your blog has given me since I discovered it a few years ago. I love looking at Michelle Obama's style and the way she puts clothes, colours and accessories together. I have a different physique, but still manage to incorporate some of her style into my look.
